The Columbia Gorge is known for diverse micro-climates all defined by the Columbia River as it cuts its way through the steep Cascade Mountain Range as it makes its way to the Pacific Ocean.
This wine enjoyed an extended cold soak and whole berry fermentations, all completed in open top vessels with hand punch down cap management to achieve gentle extraction. Fermented dry and then transferred to barrels for Malolactic Fermentation and aging. Aged in 35% New French Oak, and 65% Neutral (used) barrels for 18 months, which is more than the usual 10 months typical for Pinot Noir.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Bright and lively with elements of cherry cola, raspberry and forest floor. A robust, and almost masculine representation of Pinot Noir due to the colder climate of the region. Showing well now, yet will age tremendously.
