About This Item

The name "Fumé Blanc" originates with California vintner Robert Mondavi who coined the term in the 1960's to differentiate his Sauvignon Blancs from the lower quality versions being made in the USA at the time. A richer barrel fermented style of Sauvignon Blanc, this wine underwent fermentation in barrels for 19 days. Upon completion, the lees were then stirred every two weeks for 2 months to build a rich mouthfeel and complexity.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes:

Light herbal notes on the nose mingle with oak and white grapefruit. The palate is rich and creamy, evocative of lemon meringue with flavors of citrus fruits and underipe stonefruit enveloped in vanilla. Medium to full bodied with a balanced acidity that uplifts the lingering finish.
